Torben Nordahl Amorøe is a medical doctor and senior consultant in anesthesiology and intensive care at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He has been studying medical anthropology, supplementary program at Department for Ethnography and Social anthropology, Århus University in Denmark. He is currently head of Simulation Center West which is a center for experiental learning for health care professionals and students. The focus is on improving patient safety through training clinical practical skills and skills in communication, team work and leadership for individuals and teams. This is believed to be achieved by using controlled simulated environments and through video assisted structured post-simulation debriefings.
Torben and the Simulation Center West take part in 2 research and development projects with researchers from Department of Education, Communication and Learning, Faculty of Education, University of Gothenburg concerning interprofessional learning for health care students: Interprofessional learning in simulation training for the health care professions in collaboration with Linköping University and Karolinska Institute which is funded by the Swedish Research Council and Sahlgrenska Academy Interprofessional Simulation project.
